TL;DR: I powered down my MacBook Air M1 and hooked it up to a standard mobile phone charger before retiring for the night. By the time I woke up, the charge had increased from 47% to a full 100%.
My smart but tech-unsavvy friend told me that the first thing she would do is to plug the USB cable into the notebook. Basically, it fits. Trying to sound smarter I told her than you probably need to turn the computer off before because it not it will consume this small energy to run macOS, and the circuits in general.
These are the kind of situations that arise when you travel to countries with different electrical outlets. You might assume that you'll quickly find an affordable adapter, but that's not always the case. Fortunately, the MacBook Air M1 boasts impressive battery life, which feels significantly better than that of my MacBook Pro M1 Max.
